This Union Territory was formed on January 26, 2020, by merging the former UTs of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu. Both regions share a rich Portuguese colonial heritage, having been liberated from Portuguese rule in 1961, and showcase a unique blend of Indian and European architectural influences.
The territory encompasses diverse geography from the coastal areas of Daman and Diu with pristine beaches to the inland forests and tribal areas of Dadra & Nagar Haveli.
